Retreat in the Himalayas, Ladakh, Northern India

Meditation, trekking, and Buddhist monasteries in the high sacred mountains.

August 18 to August 28, 2026 (11 days / 10 nights)

A nomadic journey through the land of monasteries and sacred mountains.

THE DESTINATION >

Welcome to Ladakh, the northernmost region of India, nestled in the Himalayan foothills. Accessible by plane from Delhi, even the flight itself is an experience of its own… I’ll leave the magic of discovery to you.

Nicknamed the “Little Tibet,” Ladakh is a unique spiritual destination in the Indian Himalayas. It’s one of the most sacred places I’ve ever known: a mystical high-altitude desert, a suspended world between earth and sky — perfect for a yoga retreat, meditation, and deep inner reconnection. Here, the mountains feel alive, the glaciers radiate an almost otherworldly energy, and silence becomes an inner guide. It’s a place for lovers of wide-open untouched landscapes, ancient traditions, and spirituality.

Because of its closeness to the sky, a direct connection with the elements is instantly felt. Lunar valleys are scattered with centuries-old monasteries perched on cliffs, where the sacred chants of Buddhist monks still echo. For over 10,000 years, sages have come here — to the heights of the Himalayas — to meditate, to pray, and simply to be.

Ladakh is not just a destination; it’s a return to what truly matters.

ACCOMODATIONS  >

Just 20 minutes from Leh, the capital of Ladakh, lies our first yoga shala (home): a traditional Tibetan-style house — warm, welcoming, simple, and family-run. This is where our immersion begins, in a natural and authentic setting, surrounded by vegetable gardens, mountains, incense, and smiles.

Throughout our nomadic journey, we’ll stay in several places of this kind — traditional Ladakhi homes, rustic but full of soul, carefully chosen for their charm, their energy, and the warmth of their hosts. Always close to nature, always close to the local people, these houses will be our havens — places to rest, reconnect, and breathe.

Every detail in these homes reflects the spirit of Ladakh: natural materials, colorful frescoes, the scent of wood and spices. In the mornings, from the terrace where we’ll practice yoga, we’ll watch our hosts pick fresh vegetables from the garden to prepare the day’s meals. Our host families, incredibly kind and attentive, will care for us as if we were part of their home.

In these homes, simplicity is a luxury. Meals are homemade and shared around a large table. The energy is joyful and peaceful. We wake up to the soft light on the mountains and share real moments, far from noise and distractions.

This is the life I wish to share with you: a bright, grounded, deeply human daily rhythm — in harmony with the land and its people.
A yoga retreat in the Himalayas where you feel both far away… and completely at home.

THE WEATHER  >

August is the best time to discover Ladakh and northern India. Daytime temperatures are mild (between 15°C and 25°C), while nights are cool (often around 10°C). The sky is strikingly clear — perfect for watching the mountains at sunrise and sunset. Rain is rare: the climate is dry, pure, and ideal for hiking and outdoor practice.

Most days, we’re in t-shirts under the warm sun. It’s only after nightfall that we pull out the cozy sweaters.

Yoga during the retreat :

THE LEVEL OF YOGA  >

This retreat in Ladakh is designed for all lovers of nature, spirituality, and wide-open spaces, even without prior yoga or mountain experience. While this region attracts some of the greatest adventurers, I have created this journey as an accessible, gentle, and inspiring experience for anyone in good physical condition who is curious to explore a different way of traveling.

☽ Gentle – slow practice with light movement. We take our time to settle into each posture while maintaining an energizing flow. Suitable for beginners. At high altitude, we focus on calm, restorative, and meditative yoga.

THE YOGA STYLE >

We’ll explore two complementary approaches to balance active energy and deep relaxation:

Haṭha हठ, the foundation of traditional yoga (morning practice):
An energizing and structured practice that begins with Sun Salutations — a fluid sequence of postures (āsanas) that awakens the body like a conscious dance. This is followed by static poses held for around ten breaths. In India, Hatha is considered one of the most powerful forms of yoga.

Yin Yoga, inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine (evening practice):
A gentle, introspective practice focused on deep release of connective tissues (fascia) and activation of energetic meridians. Postures are held for several minutes, mostly seated or lying down. You’ll be guided through a sensory exploration toward letting go. A quiet moment of presence, relaxation, and reconnection with yourself.

The trek during this retreat:

This trek in the Himalayas, in the Markha Valley, is accessible to anyone in good physical condition (regular walking, some form of physical activity, and no respiratory issues or asthma). You don’t need to be a mountaineer—just the desire to walk, stay open, and gently challenge yourself.

Here is an overview of our three-day mini trek:

Day 1: accessible level, 2–3 hours of relaxed walking (3,900 m → 4,100 m altitude). Overnight at the refuge.

Day 2: moderate to sporty level, 5–6 hours of ascent (4,100 m → 4,900 m altitude). Overnight at the refuge.

Day 3: accessible level, 3–4 hours of descent (4,900 m → 3,900 m altitude). Return and overnight in Leh.

This is the slightly more physical chapter of the retreat, but also a deeply transformative one. You’ll feel amazed, proud, and uplifted by the power of the landscapes and the beauty of the shared effort.

If you don’t practice sports regularly, I recommend gently getting back into movement about a month before departure: walking, yoga, swimming, or anything that feels good for you, so you arrive with a smile and the right energy.

And most importantly: keep a positive mindset, Ladakh will take care of the rest!

Don’t forget to consult your primary care doctor before departure, especially to discuss high altitude and confirm that you are fit for this type of trip. Purchasing travel insurance is also strongly recommended when you register.

The rooms :

Some rooms are equipped with a double bed, while others have two single beds, depending on your preference. Each suite is a cozy and warm space with a simple, comfortable sleeping area and a private bathroom.

Please note that we are in India, and hotel standards may differ from what you are used to. We have deliberately chosen to stay in local guesthouses to offer you an authentic immersion in Ladakhi culture. These simple and welcoming accommodations will provide you with a unique local experience, far from mass tourism, while still ensuring comfort and tranquility.

The transportation :

Flights from your home → Delhi → Leh

Flights to Leh are generally taken in two steps: a direct or connecting flight from Paris for example to Delhi, followed by a domestic flight from Delhi to Leh. Prices for Paris → Delhi range between €600 and €800, depending on the season, while Delhi → Leh typically costs €50–€200, depending on the airline. Airfare is the responsibility of each participant.

Tip: It is strongly recommended to purchase flight cancellation insurance, as a canceled domestic flight (e.g., Leh → Delhi on the return) can affect your international flight. Make sure your insurance also covers delays or cancellations of domestic flights, often operated by different airlines, to avoid complications. Allow sufficient time for your return flight, as high-altitude weather conditions can be unpredictable and may disrupt flights.

Transfer Leh → Guesthouse

Upon arrival at Leh airport, we will arrange a transfer to your guesthouse. The drive takes approximately 20–30 minutes, depending on traffic, and will be provided by a private vehicle. This service is organized by us to ensure your arrival is as smooth and comfortable as possible.

We will also assist in coordinating arrival times to facilitate seamless transfer arrangements.
